Quotes for the Weekend | #MarchChallenge

I love positive affirmations! Is that 500 words? I’ll be honest, after a hectic work week I almost forgot to write today. But a challenge is a challenge!

The type of person I am relies on a good quote to motivate and get the cogs turning inside my noggin. For my vision board, I have a central quote to inspire the development I hope to make within the year. Day to day, I might read something that’s inspiring and save for later (though I’ll likely forget and accidentally reacquaint myself with it) or purposefully seek out something specific to the problem I’m hoping a few words will help me overcome. These days, by recommendation of my cousin, I’ve been using Reflectly. One of its features is a quote notification. Several times throughout the day, my phone will light up with a message that often says exactly what I need to see even if I didn’t know it.

I’ve compiled a few quotes that have spoken to me and hopefully reminiscing over them now will help me power through the weekend (and maybe you too!).

Once you embrace your value, talents and strengths, it neutralizes when others think less of you - Rob Liano

This was one of the first quotes I saw on Reflectly that resonated with me. As someone who both thinks too much about what people think and has low self-esteem, I need to read things like this. A quaint reminder to understand how cool you are and to stop caring about other people’s opinions that you can’t control.

Do not fear failure but rather fear not trying - Roy T. Bennett

Recently I’ve been overcome with doubt that I started to not even try. Invasive and harmful thoughts evade any semblance of positivity and optimism that the best thing I can do is quit and not even try in the first place. The worst part of all may be that the failure is all in my head. It’s not like I’m being graded on my hobbies.

Do not let the hero in your soul perish in lonely frustration for the life you deserved and have never been able to reach. The world you desire can be won. It exists… it is real… it is possible… it’s yours - Ayn Rand

So important to remember that we live our lives for ourselves and we can have control over what that looks like. Whether we’re people pleasers or scared to be true to ourselves, the main person you let down in the end is you! What’s that other quote? You regret what you don’t do more than what you do.

I trust the next chapter because I know the author.

This was my affirmation for 2020 and it worked to a degree. Everything I achieved, the “next chapter” was in part because I sought it. You’re hearing it here, manifestation is powerful and it works! We have more control than we know, and that’s all I’ll say about that to avoid getting too wishy-washy.

Though she be but little, she is fierce.

I loved this so much, I got half of it tattooed. At 5’4”, I’m not usually the tallest in the room. I feel like I’m mostly underestimated or walked all over because I don’t physically consume a lot of space in a room. I also really resonate with the word fierce, the perfect tattoo for me!

Strive for progress, not for perfection

My 2021 quote! Imposter Syndrome is something I’ve recently discovered as a label that fits me. In order to attempt to combat a behaviour I’ve known my whole life, I’m practicing to strive for progress and growth and to be okay with good enough rather than breaking down because attaining perfection is maybe impossible. It gave me the butterflies when I first discovered it. See more about that here!

The greatest gifts you can give your children are the roots of responsibility and the wings of independence. - Denis Waitley

Another quote that inspired a tattoo! My mum had this printed on a tapestry in the kitchen, it was something I saw almost everyday for years. I can’t explain it, but I’ve been desperate for independence for such a long time. In honour of moving to Sweden at 18, I tattooed my wings of independence to commemorate the goal established by a piece of fabric on the kitchen wall.

You are so much more than you give yourself credit for.

Underestimate yourself or belittle yourself? Then this is the quote for you! Don’t forget your value. There’s no room for self doubt on this page!

Do what you love.

Self-explanatory. I’ve always known what interested me and my passions fill me with so much joy. I hope that I’ll finally settle and be able to do what I love forever.

There we go! A quick write up and some inspiration for the weekend. And that’s day 5!
